Daily Treasures – 3-19-15

Here are some links and resources for today, including a 30 day prayer guide for an unreached people group.

Five Pieces of Advice for Young Men – by Constantine Campbell – This is a blog post I feel like most young men need – not only to read, but to apply.  I wish someone had given me this advice earlier on in life, and I wish that I had listened.  As a man who is discipling other men I loved this piece of advice on investing in your friends. “Invest in your friends, but don’t rely on them to do what only Christ can do. This will put too much pressure on your friendships, and you will ultimately be disappointed and possibly disillusioned. Friendship is great, but we need Christ more than any friend.”

Prayer and Mission are Inextricably Linked – by Erik Raymond – “But we do not fight this war, this spiritual battle on our own. We fight it together with other Christians in the church and under the leadership and command of Christ. And we fight it with powerful weapons that God has provided for us. Prayer connects us with the unlimited resources of our Father in Heaven.”

This is one of those statements that we ‘know’ but we need reminding of.  At least I do.

Cultivating a Healthy Marriage in Ministry – by Lisa Chan – Having just finished going through You and Me Forever by Francis and Lisa Chan I think you catch a glimpse of Lisa’s heart in this blog post (as well as some helpful advice).

You and Me Forever – In his latest book, Francis Chan and his wife Lisa address the question that many couples wonder at the altar: “How do I have a great marriage?” Setting aside typical topics on marriage, Francis and Lisa dive into Scripture to understand what it means to have a relationship that satisfies the deepest parts of our souls.

I encourage married couples (young or old) to dive into this book, and be sure to visit the website as you work through the material and watch the session videos.

A Review of the Happy Christian – I have my copy and hope to dig into this book in the next few weeks.  I appreciate this review and found it very helpful.

God, Make Me a Looker – by Lore Ferguson – Join Lore in this prayer “Make me a looker, a seer, and one who weeps for joy at the thousands of answers to prayer you give in every moment of life. ”

30 Day Prayer Guide for East Asian Diaspora Peoples – “We believe that God has placed the peoples of the East Asian diaspora in strategic places throughout the world in order for them to know Him and to make Him known to others. Please join us in praying that as Chinese and Japanese come to salvation through Christ Jesus, they will delight in sharing Him with others. May we join with them in making His name known to Chinese and Japanese people throughout the world.”
